In contrast to flanges, which use additional material to bolt pipes together, butt weld fittings connect pipes by welding them together. A butt weld fitting is designed to be welded onsite at its ends, and allow change in pipe diameter, direction, branching or ending for piping systems.
Welded construction uses less material and space (lowering costs), and offers more design freedom and structural strength than flange fittings. Ryerson offers both welded and seamless fittings in a variety of grades, types and sizes to best suit your needs.
